OP Guarantee

QUT's OP Guarantee ensures a place in all undergraduate Law and Justice courses, including double degrees, if your OP score is from 1 to 5.

Likely Overall Position cut-off scores needed:

The OP score changes from year to year and is dependent on the demand for each course. The OP cut-off for the Bachelor of Laws and the double degrees is usually around OP 5. The OP cut-off for the Bachelor of Justice is usually around OP 12 or 13 however in 2003 the OP rose to OP 7 due to the quota and increased demand.

If your OP is not high enough for entry into the Law School and you are set on a career in Law you have a number of options:

  1. Transfer from another degree course through a Mature Age application through QTAC and good grades. Gaining a law degree usually takes a further four years full-time study, depending on the type of studies completed in the first course.
  2. Enrol in Justice for one year (the cut-off entry for Justice was 7), and then convert to the Justice-Law double degree in the second year. This requires an internal Intra-faculty application and improved grades. By enrolling in the double degree, the student will have the first year of studies fully credited and still spend only four more years at university to graduate with two degrees.
  3. Applying for mid-year entry - This is not offered in 2004 and will only be offered when places are available. (Please note that the OP score for mid-year entry is likely to be the same and the start of year entry);
