The QUT Law Founders' Scholarship is offered to a first-year Bachelor of Laws or Law double
degree student with excellent academic records, who faces social and/or economic
hardship. This scholarship was created by graduates of the
QUT School of Law, the legal profession and the University itself. The scholarship
is awarded for one year and is equivalent to a minimum of one-year of HECS fees.
More than one scholarship may be awarded at the discretion of the selection
panel. The applicant must be an Australian citizen. The 2011 recipients recently shared their experiences at a morning tea.

The Blake Dawson Scholarship is offered to students in their penultimate year of study
to support of their final year of the Bachelor of Laws or a Law double degree.

and intends to practice law on graduation. The applicant must be an Australian citizen.

McCullough Robertson Scholarship for Indigenous Students
The McCullough Robertson Scholarship is offered to Indigenous students enrolled in the Bachelor of Laws or associated double degrees. The aim of the scholarship is to support promising Indigenous students who are in need of financial assistance and to provide pathways into the private legal profession. Two scholarships are available each year - one for a commencing undergraduate student; and one for a continuing student who has completed at least 96 credit points towards the Bachelor of Laws or associated double degree. Each scholarship is valued at $5 000. Applications for 2011 are now open.

Vacation Research Experience Scholarship
QUT offers a number of Vacation Research Experience Scholarships (VRES) in most faculties and centres during the summer vacation period. Vacation Research Experience Scholars are normally expected to participate in a project related to a researcher's ongoing research program. VRES provide students with an opportunity to experience research work. This is particularly useful to students considering undertaking postgraduate research towards a higher degree. The scholarships provide contact with active researchers and offer a challenging environment in which students have an opportunity to test for themselves and to demonstrate to others, their potential for research work. Offers are made subject to the availability of funding and appropriate supervision.
QUT Undergraduate scholarships
QUT also offers a range of undergraduate scholarships for commencing and continuing students. A number of these scholarships and bursaries are awarded to low-income students experiencing financial hardship.
Postgraduate Scholarships
QUT Faculty of Law - Master of Laws by Coursework Equity Scholarship
This scholarship supports either full-time or part-time study in the Master
of Laws by Coursework (LLM). It was introduced by the Faculty of Law to offset
the economic hardship that students in equity target groups may face given the
introduction of fees for postgraduate studies. The scholarship represents payment
of tuition fees for the LLM and lasts throughout the course of study, subject
to the candidate's satisfactory progress. The scholarship's value will reflect
how well the successful applicant satisfies the criteria; however, the scholarship
will either exempt the candidate from either 100% of tuition fees or from 50%
of the relevant tuition fees.
To be eligible to apply, applicants must be Australian citizens who meet normal
entry requirements for the LLM by Coursework. You must fall within one of the
equity target groups identified for this purpose - Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander people, people with disabilities, people from low socio-economic backgrounds,
people from rural and isolated areas etc.
This scholarship is available to Australian domestic students
only.
QUT Faculty of Law - Master of Intellectual Property Law Scholarship for International Students
The Master of Intellectual Property Law, commencing in February 2010, is offered jointly by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and QUT’s Faculty of Law in Brisbane, Australia.
Commencing in 2010, the Faculty of Law is offering two full fee waiver scholarships to international students from countries in the Asia-Pacific region (excluding Australia and New Zealand). The scholarships will be awarded based on academic merit in the applicant’s undergraduate degree and are subject to the candidate's satisfactory progress. Work experience in the intellectual property area, where applicable, also will be taken into consideration.
Applicants should include with their application for entry to the course a written statement advising that they wish to be considered for the Faculty of Law fee waiver scholarship. Supporting statements should include details of the relevant work experience in the intellectual property area. Applications for entry to the course together with a supporting statement must be lodged by 1 December 2009 for 2010 course commencement.
