This prize was established to recognise the significant contribution to the community made by the late Gerard Connolly, a graduate of the Faculty of Law at QUT. This prize is awarded annually to the student whom the trustees of the prize believe has contributed most to the community through volunteer and/or charitable work (not necessarily of a legal nature). About Gerard ConnollyGerard studied his LLB at QUT between 1985 and 1988 and completed the Legal Practice Course in 1989. Following his admission as a solicitor, Gerard worked in private practice and then for the Commonwealth Government until his death from cancer, aged 30. What is the Prize?The value of the prize is $550. The funds for this prize have been donated by family and friends of Gerard Connolly. Application ProcessIndividuals may nominate/apply themselves or nominations may be made by peers or academic staff. Applications normally close February/March of the year the prize is to be awarded. The successful recipient is chosen by a selection panel on the merit of their application, and the prize is presented at the Faculty's Prize Ceremony which is normally held in May of each year. Applications for the 2007 academic year prize close on Friday 7 March, 2008. An application form can be obtained from the Scholarships and Prizes section of the Student Forms page.
