The Faculty of Law at the Queensland University of Technology offers the opportunity to complete courses in Law regardless of your location within Australia.

Students are able to study at home or work by using the Internet to access resource materials, case notes, chat rooms, forums and lecturers. (Please note, international students on student visas may only enrol in units held on campus).

Our postgraduate courses will help you explore new areas of potential in your career, or to develop higher-level knowledge in your preferred specialisation.

Your newly-acquired knowledge will provide you with the resources you need for career advancement, greater personal fulfilment, and the chance to make the most of your experience and skills.

In addition to traditional research programs a number of coursework programs are offered. Postgraduate courses range from graduate certificate to doctoral level.

The principal goal of the Faculty of Law is to provide courses which are appropriate to the needs of the legal profession, while encompassing subjects to broaden the experience of students and providing as practical an education as possible.

The QUT Law Faculty offers selected postgraduate coursework units in external and intensive modes of study as well as the more traditional internal lecture attendance.

Internal Options

All units offered in the internal mode of study require attendance at lectures for two hours per week. Usually internal lectures are held in the evenings between 6 and 8pm.

Intensive Options

Units offered in the intensive mode of study are usually run full-time (eg 9am - 5pm) over a period of 4-5 days with an assessment item due 6-8 weeks following the intensive, however there are variations to this format. Intensive units are usually offered during University breaks or in the Summer semester.

External Options

There are no internal lecture attendance requirements for external students. Students enrolled in units offered by external mode will receive appropriate study guides and materials for completion of the unit. External units are not currently available to off-shore students.

Online Options

Most units have a large number of resources available online. This allows study by you 24/7, at your convenience. Your time spent on-campus can be greatly reduced by using these facilities. No longer do you need to spend time searching through libraries, standing in queues only to find out someone else has just borrowed the item you wanted. Readings, past exam papers, study guides, cases, legislation, discussions, lecture presentations are all available online through Online Teaching and the Course Materials Database.

The Faculty is also currently developing units for offer exclusively via the internet and hopes to offer online study within 2 years.
