( Columbia ) Contact:Room: C710 Peter Black studied Arts, with a major in Media Studies, and Law at the University of Queensland, graduating from Law as a University Medallist. After working as an Associate for Justice Davies of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of Queensland, he worked at the University of Carlos III, Madrid, teaching and coaching a moot team for the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. In 2003/04, Peter studied at Columbia University in New York, completing his Master of Laws in 2004. On his return to Australia, Peter worked at the Australian Catholic University and the University of Queensland, and was involved in a research project on electronic tendering at QUT. Peter commenced full time work as an associate lecturer in the QUT Law School in January 2005. Peter’s research interests focus on legal issues relating to the regulation of the media and the internet.He is a regular contributor to the Internet Law Bulletin and The Business of Law from FindLaw Australia. Peter currently has a contract with Idea Group Publishing to edit a book with Kelley Burton titled Legal and Political Issues of Blogging: Surviving in the Blogosphere. Peter also maintains a blog, Freedom to Differ, focusing on legal issues facing the media and the internet. Peter is a member of the Law Academic Board and the Law Faculty’s International and Community Committee, and is the Law Faculty’s representative on the University’s Virtual Learning Environments Advisory Group. Peter is also one of the Law Faculty’s mooting coaches. He is the coach for the Stetson International Environmental Moot Court Competition team, supports the Jessup, International Maritime Law, Shine Torts, Sir Harry Gibbs Constitutional Law, Family Law and Administrative Appeals Tribunal moot teams, and trains junior mooters.
