Kathie graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Queensland before undertaking two years of articles of clerkship at a national law firm.  Kathie then practised as a solicitor in the litigation division of that firm, before spending seven years as in-house counsel for a government owned corporation.  She returned to private practice and is now Special Counsel at DLA Phillips Fox where she is part of the Corporate and Financial Services Team.  Her practice is wide ranging, involving various aspects of commercial transactions, including corporate advisory, advising state and local governments and their commercial entitles, transactional work, information technology, telecommunications and major projects.

Kathie has undertaken postgraduate studies and has been awarded a Master of Business Administration and Master of Laws from the University of Queensland.  In both degrees Kathie achieved the Dean’s Honours Roll for Outstanding Academic Excellence.  She is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Kathie has assisted part-time in the Legal Practice Course since the beginning of 2006.
