Colin Thorne joined the Law Faculty with the establishment of Justice Studies in 1991. Colin has developed and co-ordinated, initially the Law Enforcement Minor, and now the Policing and Intelligence Major within the undergraduate degree.

Prior to joining QUT, Colin served as an officer in the Queensland Police Service performing duties in uniform (general duties), plain clothes and education and training at the Police Service Academy. Colin is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy, Quantico, USA. Colin graduated in 2004 with a Doctor of Philosophy after completing his thesis on the implementation of Community Policing. Colin has also engaged in consultancy work with various government departments in the area of investigational techniques.
