This year the QUT Legal Practice Unit celebrates its 30th Anniversary since
the unit was established in 1978. It was the first of its kind in Queensland
and is now one of the largest and longest established programs of this sort
in Australia. It was started as an alternative to the ‘articled clerk’ path where
law graduates undertook supervised workplace training to gain professional
accreditation as a solicitor. A bar practice course provides a comparable path
for barristers.
