Law & justice issues affect everyone; they are integral to almost all areas of life, from birth to death. The Faculty of Law at the Queensland University of Technology has established the Law and Justice Research Centre (LJRC) as the focal point for the cutting edge legal and justice research it conducts. The LJRC provides a dedicated support structure which enhances the productivity, sustainability and accessibility of Faculty research. The LJRC’s mission is to contribute to economic, cultural and social improvement through:
One of the LJRC’s primary goals is to participate actively in knowledge transfer and to support the Faculty's capacity to conduct priority-driven, relevant research designed to answer questions of immediate and future concern to the community, profession, industry and government at a national and international level. The LJRC has an impressive national and international profile in research and commercial activity with many researchers having well established reputations across a diverse range of specialist areas broadly within the parameters of law and justice studies. The applied focus ensures our research keeps pace with development and remains relevant to an ever changing world. Our researchers embrace some of the more complex issues faced by Australian and global communities and include (but are in no way limited to):
The Law and Justice Research Centre (LJRC) allows the Faculty to respond to current challenges in research and research training by providing structures that offer greater collaboration and support for high quality research and encourage linking of research interest groups within an expanded Faculty research profile. The LJRC is affiliated with the Institute for Ethics, Governance and Law (IEGL), a joint initiative of the United Nations University, Griffith University and QUT, in association with ANU. IEGL’s mission is to build on the strengths of the participating centres to make an internationally significant contribution to research, teaching, consultancy and capacity building in the areas of institutional and community governance. |
