The Faculty of Law is committed to ensuring a safe, fair and just working and learning environment. To ensure this, staff and students have access to processes that allow for grievances, disputes, problems and complaints to be resolved appropriately.

Policies, Procedures & Contacts

Grievance Resolution

QUT has a Grievance Resolution policy and procedures in place for handling incidences of discrimination, harassment, bullying and other incidences of work or study-related complaints.

There are three sets of grievance resolution procedures:

Students with a grievance can also contact the QUT Student Ombudsman for advice and assistance.

Discrimination Contact Officers

The Faculty of Law has a number of trained Discrimination Contact Officers available to provide advice, information and support to staff and students in relation to discrimination and harassment related incidences.

Ally Network Members

The Faculty of Law has a number of trained Ally Network members available to provide support and referral for staff and students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex or queer.

Disability Advisors

The Faculty of Law works closely with QUT's Disability Services and Disability Advisors to provide full and equal access to learning and research for people with a disability.  Supporting students with disabilities - a guide for staff provides practical advice for acadmic staff. Disability Discrimination - a guide for staff provides information on the University's obligations, and individuals' obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act.

Psychiatric Disabilities

Succeeding with a psychiatric disability in the university environment provides information and advice for staff dealing with students who have a mental illness.
