The Faculty of Law recognises that commencing tertiary studies for the first time can be an overwhelming and challenging experience. To support first-year equity students, the Faculty runs a Pre-Law Bridging Program for Indigenous students and a specialist orientation for students who enter through QUT's Q-Step program.

At the orientations new students: meet academic staff teaching in first year subjects; hear about the Faculty's approach to teaching learning and assessment in undergraduate programs; use legal databases in the Clayton Utz Law Library; and learn how to write a case note. A panel of current students discuss strategies for success at university and answer questions on issues faced by first year law students.
