Designated groups of disadvantaged students targeted by the university and Faculty of Law are:

  • low income students
  • Indigenous students
  • rural and isolated students
  • students with a disability
  • students from non-English speaking backgrounds

The Faculty has been successful in attracting and supporting students in all of these categories.

The Faculty of Law has the highest representation of Indigenous students within QUT and one of the largest Indigenous student enrolments in an Australian law school.  The retention rate for the Faculty’s Indigenous students exceeds the national rate and is comparable with the retention rate of non-Indigenous law students.  The Faculty is proud of the partnership it has formed with the Oodgeroo unit.
