The QUT Faculty of Law aspires to improve society through its nationally recognised, collaborative, professionally valued and high impact law and justice teaching and research. 

With over 3,000 law and justice studies students, and 150 professional and academic staff, the Faculty of Law encompasses the School of Law, the School of Justice, the Legal Practice Unit and Law and Justice Research Centre.

The QUT Faculty of Law is the second largest of Australia’s twenty-nine Law Faculties and Schools.

Our facilities include the first Electronic Moot Court established in Brisbane, Law Library, 24 hour access computer lab, state-of-the-art technology and online teaching.

School of Law

School of Justice

  • offers education and training for careers in a variety of fields within the criminal justice system

  • established in 1990 as an outcome of the Fitzgerald Inquiry into police corruption in Queensland
  • leading researchers in specialised fields

Legal Practice Unit

  • prepares law graduates for admission to practice as legal practitioners
  • first of its kind in Queensland, one of the first nationally
  • full online delivery
  • has been offering its highly regarded Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice since 1978

Law and Justice Research Centre

  • QIT research management committee established in 1988
  • Faculty members prominent in writing textbooks for their specialist fields
  • Centre established in 2007
